How It Works
Step One
Call the Sanctuary to schedule a visit with a Certified Doctor
Our friendly helpful staff will book your appointment and explain in detail the simple steps to obtaining a medical marijuana card in Connecticut.
Step Two
Meet with the doctor via phone or computer. The appointment takes about 15 minutes.
The doctor will initiate the application and registration process with the state and notify the DCP that you are approved for the program. The state will then send you an email with additional instructions.
Step Three
Complete registration on the State's website
Check your inbox for an email from the DCP. You will need to upload your photo ID and proof of residency (a utility bill or mortgage or rent statement) and pay the state's fee of $100 to complete the process. Your temporary Medical Marijuana Card arrives via email
Your certification is valid for one year. You will need to renew it annually by having another consultation with the doctor. The Sanctuary will get in touch with you when your certification is approaching its expiration to help you setup a renewal consultation.
About Medical Marijuana in Connecticut
In June 2012 the Connecticut General Assembly signed Chapter 420f, Section 21a-408, An Act Concerning the Palliative Use of Marijuana, into law. This legalized the sale, possession and use of medical cannabis. The Connecticut Medical Marijuana Registration Program (MMRP) is run by the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) To obtain a medical marijuana card and obtain medical cannabis from dispensaries the patient must be a Connecticut resident. A doctor must verify the patient’s medical condition in order to acquire certification.
