Came in here last week to get my card
I had one that expired last year and honestly haven't needed to go to a dispensary in a while since medication is pretty accessible for me. Decided it's time to get a new card and came here on recommendation from a friend.
Long story short, I was denied because "insomnia and anxiety are not qualifiers for a medical card" 😑
I was also told that I had to have taken prescription drugs or had physical therapy for a minimum of 6 months... had that form of medication fail... and THEN I would qualify for a medical card. The Dr. was also extremely condescending during the whole process.
The entire reason I medicate this way is so that I don't have to put horrible chemical prescriptions in my body, duh. 🙄
I honestly thought the whole ordeal was hilarious. I've been smoking for yearssss and have never heard of someone getting denied a weed card. Figures it would happen to me.
Anyways, went up the street to a diff Dr. and was approved in under 5 mins 💁🏻
Hello, Thank you for your review. We apologize that you had a negative experience at our office. Our physicians here are well trained in Cannabis medicine and follow the requirements set by the Medical Board of California which state: “To be eligible for a medical cannabis card a patient must apply through his or her county of residence and the medical records must contain written documentation by the attending physician that the patient has been diagnosed with a serious medical condition and that the medicinal use of cannabis is appropriate.(www.mbc.ca.gov).” Based on your comments, it sounds like our physician properly identified that you lacked being “diagnosed with a serious (chronic) medical condition”. Chronic by medical definition is having a diagnosed condition for 6 months or greater. If you’re claiming the diagnosis of Anxiety, it’s reasonable for the physician to expect that your condition was established by licensed mental health professional based on meeting DSM-5 criteria prior to your visit, and that if such a diagnosis exists that treatment has been attempted prior to use of Cannabis. While we can appreciate that you’ve used Cannabis successfully thus far, it is its own chemical with risks and side effects like any other prescribed drug. It is important for the physician to take adequate time to ensure that prescribing this drug is not only appropriate, but safe with each individual case. Based on your “5 min approval” it’s clear that not all physicians practice as the law demands, but for your information you should be clear as to what the appropriate procedures are regarding qualifying new patients for this drug. We wish you the best in your health journey.
I am very impressed with this location. Centrally located. Easy to park. Good looking office. Very pleasant staff.
I just found out that if you ever misplaced your card or letter, they're very expedient, friendly, and they have your back! Very helpful.
Doctors are very patient with new comers. Also the staff gives you warm welcome and a speedy rec. I would recommend this doctor to all my friends. Pretty reasonable prices as well.
nice interior as well as a friendly receptionist in the front. I've been coming here for 2 years. the doctor gives great beneficial advice to help your lifestyle.
Renewing my Rx here today was just as pleasant as getting it was here last year. Great, professional facility. Easy and convenient service. Good hours and pricing.
Great space, in a great part of town- They were nice enough to see me before lunch, I felt completely comfortable and happy that they were there to help
NOTICE TO CONSUMERS: The Compassionate Use Act of 1996 ensures that seriously ill Californians have the right to obtain and use cannabis for medical purposes where medical use is deemed appropriate and has been recommended by a physician who has determined that the person’s health would benefit from the use of medical cannabis. Recommendations must come from an attending physician as defined in Section 11362.7 of the Health and Safety Code. Cannabis is a Schedule I drug according to the federal Controlled Substances Act. Activity related to cannabis use is subject to federal prosecution, regardless of the protections provided by state law.
