1st and foremost I'm not just a POT DOC! I have been practicing General Medicine for 43 years in Upper Lake. Offering services for general office visits as well as medical marijuana evaluations. On average 80% cannabis patients also have me as their Primary Physician; which means I can refill your non-narcotic medications, go over lab work, give you a referral to a specialist, ect. All with no additional cost to you. My general recommendation for all my patients that states; "This patient may grow and possess a sufficient quantity of cannabis for his/her medical needs, not to exceed nineteen pounds of processed cannabis and ninety-nine plants."

Dr. Milan L. Hopkins
Dr. Hopkins is a general practice doctor working in medicine for over forty years in Upper Lake, California. A doctor that truly listens to his patients, he provides medical marijuana recommendations as one of many treatment options to empower patients to change and improve their health.
Dr. Milan Hopkins earned his Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine in 1969, specializing in internal medicine. Over his forty plus years of practicing as a primary care physician, he has served in the United States Navy as a Medical Officer, volunteered at a Haight-Ashbury Free Medical Clinic, and operated his practice in Upper Lake, California. Serving tens of thousands of patients over the course of his career, Dr. Hopkins always believes that his primary role is to listen and observe, only to diagnose when certain he can provide an accurate one, and to offer the best options for treatment to alleviate a patient's condition. As such, he is an advocate of alternative therapies, including medical cannabis which he believes is one of the safest and most widely applicable medicines available. When Prop 215 was passed, Dr. Hopkins began to provide medical marijuana recommendations and has been providing his patients with evaluations since 1998.
Dr. Hopkins philosophy is to make truly listen to his patients, make observations and take their complaints into account, and provide as accurate a diagnosis as he is able, and if he is unable he will refer them to someone who can treat them. Consistent with his ability to listen and treat patients well, visitors fly in from across the country to visit his general practice and over 98% of his patient base are either referrals or returning patients. The Medical Board of California has reviewed Dr. Hopkins several times, and each time they are reassured that they are doing everything by the books. With such a high reputation, Dr. Hopkins has helped more than 20,000 individual office visitors in the last five years alone.
While Dr. Hopkins’ general practice accepts many kinds of insurance, they are unable to accept insurance for medical cannabis recommendations. Medical cannabis patients are required by the medical board to visit their physician every six months, and the doctor coordinates a follow-up schedule with each of his medical marijuana recommendation patients. Patients are welcome to call with any follow-up questions or concerns by phone, and both scheduled appointments and walk-ins are welcome, please call ahead to confirm availability for a walk-in appointment.

Came here 2 years ago because he was the closest physician. I paid $250 the first and then $100 for a renewal(which is every 6 months) Been hearing a lot negative comments from dispensaries about this doctor. I feel it takes longer to call you in to see the doctor then the examine.
I really enjoyed my visit at this medical practice. My first impression of this office was, "wow, this place is really clean, and the staff is very friendly!" Dr. Hopkins is very insightful, as he took the time discuss my medical issue in depth and discussed other remedies (non cannabis or prescription). I really appreciated being listened to. They are very efficient and organized here( I went through three rooms during my visit!) I definitely recommend.

As a new patient with Dr. Hopkins office I was astonished to see how busy his office was, I met people in his office from all over California. His staff was amazing, very friendly and informative. Dr. Hopkins is the only doctor who listened to my health concerns and didn't try to prescribe me a hand full of pills to take daily, instead he educated me on a few herbs and different uses of cannabis. I don't have insurance like many, and he offered to be my primary physician without any additional fee or paperwork. I received a refill of my allergy medication and referral for blood work and a 215. The staff informed me he holds a clinic on Sundays for any follow-up care for me and my family for FREE.
