This was the first strain I got at The Higher Path, about two months ago. It's back on the menu, so I figured I'd review it.
Looks: Pretty good. Looking at it in brighter lighting than they have at The Higher Path or, even better, in the sunlight, makes it apparent that it's bomb. Lots of light green with a li'l bit of olive here and there and TONS of dark orange hairs. Not quite "red" as the name would imply, but it still looks good. Kinda "dusty" looking as well, covered in tiny crystals. Buds are a little looser than usual, but that's how true Sativa-dominant hybrids should be. I'd think it was weird if the nugs were all tight and rock-hard and shit. No complaints about the way it looks.
Smell: Spicy, with undertones of meat. I know that sounds super-weird, but I really do get hints of "meatiness" with this strain. Overall, though, it's kind of a par-for-the-course spicy, woody haze-y nose that's typical of Sativa-dominant hybrids. It doesn't blow you out of the water with that Indica-ish "Chem/OG" fuel/pine smell that everybody seems to be looking for these days. But it smells good enough.
Taste: Similar to the smell. Spicy, mostly. But not overwhelmingly so. Kind of mild, actually. Not bland, exactly, but again, if you've been smoking nothing but Chem's and OGs and shit, the flavor isn't gonna blow you away. I like it, though. It's different. And good.
High: This is where the Sativa shines through, I think. It's kind of a weird high, but in a good way. This isn't your typical racy, heart-racing speedy high that people typically associate with Sativas. Really, reeeeeaaallllllllyyyyyy good for focusing on the task at hand. Not racy at all, actually, although about a half hour into it, you realize,"Wow, I'm fucking high....." Definitely builds for at least a half-hour, creeper for sure. William Burroughs once said (and I'm paraphrasing) that when you think maybe you haven't taken enough of a particular drug, that means you've taken more than enough. That's how I feel about Red Congo. Every time I smoke it, after I've put the j out, I always think,"Maybe I shoulda smoked more...." Half-hour later, I'm baaaaaaaked. This is definitely not one of those "you feel it after the first bong rip" strains, although it's just as powerful as those kinds of strains. It's easy to get stuck reading something or getting lost on the internet. Easy to kind of sink into the couch with your iPad or something. You don't necessarily want to get up (although I wouldn't classify this as a couchlock strain by any means), but once you do get up, you wanna do something. So I guess it's a strain that could go either way. I wouldn't use this one for insomnia or anything like that. It's relaxing, all's right with the world, sitting in the backyard and reading's totally fine, but if you wanna go work out or something, it's good for that, too. I notice myself getting really into whatever I'm doing, then looking up and all of a sudden, three hours have passed. Almost a zen-like, meditative kinda high. I like Red Congo.
Overall: scale of one to ten? Nine. It's strong enough and the high lasts for at least two hours, minimum. I notice that I still feel the affects of this one almost four hours later, although not as pronounced, obviously. I bet if you smoked an entire joint of this by yourself, you'd have a seriously introspective, old-school type Sativa high. I usually smoke about a third or maybe a half-j of this one and that's plenty for me. Kinda perfect for sitting out back and enjoying this late-summer weather, reading and listening to music and all that type stuff haha. Good shit, no doubt about it.
PS When are y'all gonna have that Stardawg OG back? I loooooove that one.
I have been to many places around the valley.... THP is #1. I was blown away by the lobby. Full of art, magazines, and seating. Nicest dispensary i have ever been in. It doesn't feel like a place that will be gone in a month. Great meds. Sticky Icky and Red Congo were my favs. Will be back.
The Higher Path is my favorite club because of the dank bud, the great atmosphere and of course the Higher Path Ladies.
Well kymmanger&chief, the ladies are saying, "right back at cha!" Come in anytime, you're always a pleasure to serve!
You will not be upset with a visit to Higher Path in fact you will probably be quite peachy. The deals are wild I'm telling you Higher Path is the place to be I've signed up at a bunch of other clubs but I always go here now. If you go during happy hour you get 4.2 grams for 25 bucks its great.
We love peaches and we love this review. Come back and check out our fall specials. We now have free parking in the back. Add a little happy hour 1/8th mixed with a free gram for this review and you've got yourself a great visit! Hope to see you soon.
Literally my favorite club I've been to! I live in Sonoma and La and it's the best I've been too! Really like the NorCal appreciation! Love their daily deals and edibles! They have wine truffle edibles from Napa county and they're the best edibles I've ever tried! Love love love totally obsessed with this place! Great vibes super nice staff love everything about higher path!
We're obsessed with you! Aren't those truffles too good?! The next time you're in make sure to reference this review and we'll give you a truffle on the house :)
I'm from up north (Sacramento) , so whenever I'm in LA I tend to go here when I'm in need of some medicine. I like the variety y'all have. And the disposable vape pens are pretty cool -- I buy those a lot when I'm in town. But the past few times I've been, the bud has been really lacking. I feel like I paid top dollar ($60 for an eighth is a lot for top shelf! Coming from NorCal, we get tested top shelf for $45 so when I spend $60, I expect it to be pretty good) for mediocre trimmings. I got maybe two decent sized nuggets, and the rest was shake. At best. I didn't quite know how to handle it, and both times I didn't realize it because the person who packed it had packed the loose shake all the way under the two or three light nuggets. I was just very sad and disappointed the past two times I've been. I'm still going to be by for the disposable pens, but I think I'll be avoiding the flower for a while. :(
So sad to read this! The next time you come in please ask for a manager and reference this review. We would be more than happy to pick out the best buds in the shop for you to make up for this shakey mistake. Nothing is more disappointing than small nugs. We understand and thank you so much for sharing this with us. We are here for you and want to do what we can to ensure you get the medicine you deserve. Have a great day and we'll see you soon!

Just moved out to the Valley after years of living in Venice, Hollywood, Weho, Koreatown and, for the last seven years or so, Los Feliz and I'm pretty excited to check out all the new Valley dispensaries. The Higher Path was actually the first place I hit up, about a month ago, got their Red Congolese, which I really dug (although it could've been flushed better and cost less). Did a little Ventura Blvd dispensary tour last Friday and made it a point to stop by The Higher Path again because I noticed that they had Goji OG on the menu, a strain that I've read nothing but good things about, but I've never seen it on a dispensary menu until now. So.... Yeah. Goji OG. Got a gram of it last Friday and fucking LOVED it, so I went back yesterday and got a quarter of it, which, when considering how many other strains I have right now that I need to get through, is saying something.
Looks: Honestly, if I didn't know what I was looking for, I probably would've overlooked this one whilst perusing the myriad other strains on the menu. But I knew that I wanted to sample this so I got it anyway. After getting my quarter yesterday, though, and looking at bigger nugs than I got in my gram from last week, it looks really good. Definitely covered in trichomes, sparkly in the sunlight. Olive drab with darker green leaves here and there and a fairly decent amount of pink-ish, almost magenta hairs, bordering on full-on purple. The buds look like they may have been over manicured, but since I've never seen the plant actually growing, I dunno if it's a strain that needs a lot of trimming or whatever. Regardless, I don't know that I would've gotten this one had I not known the Goji's reputation. I read a lot haha, so that helps. It's important to me to be an informed consumer haha. But looks-wise, I've seen way better looking weeds.
Smell: Again, this one wouldn't have caught my attention if I wasn't looking specifically for this strain. Kind of generic, like maybe they rushed the cure. Or maybe this particular grower chose the Afgooey-leaning pheno. I understand that there are multiple phenotypes of this strain floating around, so that could've been the case.
Just as an aside, Goji OG is a cross of Nepali OG (which is a cut from, if I'm not mistaken, Grass Valley and which is supposed to closely resemble Tahoe OG) crossed with Snow Lotus, which is a cross of Blockhead and Afgooey. I only bring this up because the samples of Goji that I got from the Higher Path really reminded me of Afgooey, which is not one of my favorite strains. I kind of have an idiot-savant-like capability of remembering every strain I've ever tried, what it felt like breaking it up, what it smelled like, the high, everything. And this one absolutely reminded me of the Afgooey (Maui Haze x some sort of Afghani) that I got a couple of times from this one dispensary in WeHo a few years back. Anyway, yeah, the smell's not all that. But after smoking some, it doesn't matter what the fuck it reminds me of haha.
Taste: Again, nothing special. I'm almost positive that this strain was either grown hydroponically or, if it was grown in soil, it wasn't organic. The way this tastes makes me think that my initial suspicion that this was an Afgooey-leaning phenotype was correct. It's got kind of a woody taste, totally reminiscent of the Afgooey that I've smoked in the past, with subtle hints of tart berries (I've never tasted a Goji berry, but I'm assuming they taste like tart berries haha). I really was hoping for an overwhelming tart berry flavor with some Nepali OG notes, too, but really it tastes kind of bland. Again, I'm assuming that it tastes the way it does because of the way it was grown.
High: Top 5 weed ever smoked. Yeah. I mean it. It's that good. I can only imagine what an organically grown and properly cured sample would be like. Having said that, this is beyond good enough. Makes me think of old-school weed. Or at least it makes me feel like I felt when I was like fourteen and first started blazing. Serious attitude adjuster, kind of trippy, hardcore cottonmouth and laughing your ass off for hours type weed. Seriously, this shit will make you laugh your ass off. It hits me in waves, too, which I love. Smoked about a half joint of it the first time and was high as fuck and having a blast for about an hour. Then I started feeling like it was wearing off and thought,"Hmmm..... Is that it?" Twenty minutes later I was high as shit again and that second wave lasted for about two hours. This is really, really good meds, no doubt about it. I'm kind of a strain collector, have about fifteen strains at home that I really need to get through before I visit anymore dispensaries, but I loved the first gram of this one so much that I HAD to go back up to at The Higher Path and stock up on the Goji.
Overall: On a scale of one to ten, it's a 9.5 and the only reason it's not a 10 is because of the grow and cure. The genetics are there. This seems to be a strain that'd be impossible to fuck up, no matter how someone grew it. It's bomb-ass weed and I'm glad I got more of it yesterday, even if I do have too many strains working right now. Guess I gotta blaze a little more than usual haha.
Also, just wanted to mention that I really like The Higher Path, even if they don't have nothing but fire. Some strains look good, some strains don't, just like every other dispensary. But the vibe in there is chill as fuck, in addition to being clean and professional. And the 'tenders all seem to be hella cool, too. If you've read my last dispensary review, you know how I feel about shitty 'tenders haha. Nothing to worry about here, though, they all seem super-friendly.
So, yeah.... Goji OG = must-try meds. Thanks, The Higher Path haha!

And I love it. Sometimes you have to shop, but that's part of the awesome fun! The budlets are an amazing deal! I was really happy to stock up. And I was really tempted to get even more, they seemed to have better deals this time than last time, or maybe I'm just getting better at adjusting to their large menu :) Staff is always friendly, and I'm usually able to park in front, if I remember my quarters! I know I said you may not see me for a while, but if those SF D/B budlets come back, so am I :) hahaha ...and maybe I'll get some of that AK-47 sap too.
love the ambiance, great herb on deck and amazing friendly staff! too bad the prices are wayyyy too high.. I would come more often but I can afford the prices. guess ill have to wait til it gets a lil cheaper. . besides that, this place is dope..

Upon signing up as a new patient, there was a comfortable vibe with a friendly staff. While checking out the wide selection for the first time, I didn't feel rushed and everyone seemed eager to answer questions. It didn't seem possible to have a bad experience in the great environment they have created here. I'll definitely be returning.
Can't wait to see you again! Thanks so much for coming in. How could we be rushed when we're always on 4:20 time? :)
