Who We Are,
The story behind Kaya began with three best friends from Boulder who shared a passion for their community, a taste for high quality cannabis, and a dream to run a dispensary that had high quality cannabis that was affordable for our friends and family. Back then we called it “Southwest Alternative Care”. As time went on, we needed a name that fit a little better with who we were, so we settled on “Kaya”. First and foremost, it means ‘beautiful’, but it’s also Jamaican slang for marijuana.
Our leadership team includes a former eagle scout, a scientist, a former nonprofit director, and a World Series Poker champ (well, second place). Colorado is our home and we love doing business here. We will always remain a locally owned and operated shop, because we like meeting our customers and getting to know our community.
We like to think of ourselves as a craft marijuana company: we grow all of our product in small batches, personally hand-trim it, and do an extended cure (which is like barrel-aging beer but doesn’t sound nearly as trendy). We develop our own genetics and strive to create new and unique strains for every batch. Make sure to come in often, because your favorite one-of-a-kind strain might sell out quickly!
The only cannabis company that makes the world better with every dollar you spend.
KAYA IS ABOUT COMMUNITY – A COMMUNITY OF FRIENDS, A COMMUNITY OF COLORADANS, A COMMUNITY OF GOOD PEOPLE.
WE LOVE GIVING BACK TO THE PEOPLE WE CARE ABOUT AND WANT YOU TO BE INVOLVED! EVERY TIME YOU SHOP WITH US, A PERCENTAGE OF THE PURCHASE IS DONATED TO A LOCAL NONPROFIT OF YOUR CHOICE.

S.W.A.C. Is my favorite location to swing by when in the Denver Metro area. I have been to numerous "Pot Shops" in the area along with working along side at numerous MMJ events for Hghtimes and Weedmaps. I am familiar with most other shops and the inventory on the shelf. First of lets start by shutting down the previously posted review noting that this dispensary is the worst ever. I am assuming this person forgot that they were at a dispensary and not a daycare. I'm sorry but I would have to claim that if you are incompetent enough to forget the one piece of paper you need to buy your OWN medication, then maybe you need a babysitter and not a doctor. ;) Also a helpful hint @hoova27, your name is a joke and the judgment you make on "bud", along with said terminology you chose tells me you may or may not have earned a diploma in your time here on Earth. I am leaning towards ...not so much. However here is a cue; learn to ARTICULATE and EXPLAIN, after that stop taking your personal vendettas out against honest businesses. You do not know how to make anyone besides yourself look bad at this point.
Not only does the staff remain professional, they award FREE PRODUCT ... YES FREE PRODUCT for following them on Facebook, showing up at events , ETC.
So lets be honest;
This dispensary is filled with a knowledgeable and friendly staff that welcomes everyone from members to the newest of patients. One of the first things that made me fall in love with both locations? PARKING! Because there IS ABSOLUTELY parking at both locations and it is never hard to get in or out, something that can be a daunting task in a huge city like Denver. I check in at the front desk upon entering and have never had to so much as ask to get my paperwork or id back, it is always passed back to me as I gasp at the beautiful flowers that flood the shop walls.
The flowers show variety and unique growing skills that this staff maintains steadily throughout each visit. The vast amount of inventory provides resources to all patients ;from the Treeline that leaves you lingering over a smooth wholesome smoke, to the narcotic smooth essence of The White this shops inventory would leave anyone from connoisseur to new patients coming back for more of the same great quality that you can depend on. This shop has appeared at MMJ meet and greets and other events, every time they are informative, accepting, and fun to be around.
If you are looking for a wonderful local spot that supports the community and assists in healing patients from all walks of life then this will indeed be your home away from homes. This is a local gem, and definitely a top recommendation for anyone and everyone, trust me you will not regret it!
Awesome parking everytime! I can pull right up to the front door right off of Colfax. The amnesia haze is a bitchen flower and SWAC sells it at the best price I've ever paid. The quality and selection of product they have is only matched with the high value of the patient that the staff and the environment provides.
I have been a member with Southwest for about a year now, and have nothing but raving reviews. But the original shop wasnt very close for me as I do not drive. With this new location in the heart of Denver has made buying my meds even easier. best benefits in town, they give out the most free stuff for members by far
This place is right of w colfax @ perry. Its location isnt in the most regal part of town so I figured the buds would reflect that. Definitely wrong, they had 10-12 different high quality strands, and I usually just go to the clinic since im such a snob about great weed. The side show bob haircut lookin budtender was cool as fuck and very knowledgable, think his name was alvin? He also mentioned this was their secondary location. Good hash and wax, few edibles. 40$ per 1/8th but i think the sour diesel is better than the clinics. They also had 2 grams of shake for 10 which were actually barely shake at all, mostly popcorn nugs. Check this place out asap.
