Save your money...

I wanted to try a new collective to get my medication from so I decided to try here. Bad Choice. I didn't appreciate the treatment I got from my budtender made me feel really uncomfortable. I guess there prices are ok but that doesn't mean much when you treat people the way you do.

Top Notch

This was my 3rd SF dispensary. Impressive atmosphere and interior decor. Excellent selection of medicine and knowledgeable staff. Cash only kinda sucks but their ATM is only $2. Parking in the area is annoying but worth the headache for the end result. Lol

Visiting from southern CA and this is the spot!

1 personthought this review was helpful!

I was up visiting SF, looked on wm to see what was around me. I heard that northern CA has better dispensaries.. but I had no idea. The location was beautiful. I love the old charm of the decor. Bud Tender was educational for letting me know what was available. Very impressed! Nice place you guys got up there! Next time I visit SF I'll def stop by!

A Very Professional Dispensary

1 personthought this review was helpful!

This was my first dispensary visit after getting my card. My cousin took me here as we drove across town. While I was a little reluctant based on it's location and surroundings (kinda sketchy outside), I was immediately impressed with the decor and professional service inside. I thought the "old saloon" decor was warm and relaxing. The man at the front who verified my prescription was extremely professional. The bud tender who eventually assisted me was superb. She was friendly and helpful, taking all the time I needed to answer questions and give advice. The only category I downgraded was accessibility based on parking and walking through the neighborhood this dispensary is located in. I made it easily and safely though so maybe this is unreasonable. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed my visit and will return in the future.

Best club so far

This was the first dispensary I've been to and they were great. The staff made me feel real good and welcomed. I learned about the different strains and even figured out what works best for me. I also like their prices verses the other clubs. Very afforable and can sell by the gram.

Old-Timey Pot Shop

1 personthought this review was helpful!

Grass Roots' decor reminds me of a soda fountain. The staff is friendly and the setup is efficient. They carry almost every type of product I can think of. I prefer get my flowers elsewhere, but Grass Roots is my top choice for edibles in SF.

Expensive & Rude

1 personthought this review was helpful!

Took over 20 minutes just to sign up. Doorman was very rude, short attention span, and seemed drunk/hungover. Expensive Buds and Expensive Concentrates. The cheaper concentrates looked wet and not safe to consume (Way over 50 ppm). Staff wasn't very knowledgeable...(FYI..SAP is not SHATTER! lol...) This is Barbary Coasts sister store..so they have the same shit at the same price. Both shitty dispensaries. Save your Money & Go Elsewhere.

This is the dispensary I've been searching for!

Since moving downtown a few months ago, I've been struggling to get across town to my old clubs, and delivery services can sometimes be unreliable, so I decided to check out what Grass Roots is like based on the positive Yelp reviews I read.

The Shop:
The moment I walked in I fell in love with the place (by the way, it's now obvious that The Apothecarium on Market St. stole a bunch of ideas from Grass Roots hahaha). The atmosphere is really nice; it has a Barbary Coast / turn of the century feel that you see in some of the older bars in town. It looks really Victorian era with nice chairs, velvety/floral wallpaper; they've got nice cannabis menus, and glass display cases, etc. The guy behind the counter told me this club has been here since 2005, so they've survived through all the federal raids, legal battles, and what-not. It's nice to know they've been in business for a while, and have been through the thick of it.

The Herb:
I've only tried their bud, but so far it's really good and really well-priced. I just tried some of their "Sage & Sour" and it's a really nice sativa high, very good quality and nicely priced. Compared to the other storefronts in town, the pricing here is clearly better (but leaves room for improvement... all dispensaries are getting crazy with prices lately). At least a few other dispensaries in town charge as high as $400 or more for an ounce -- I think the most expensive ounce at Grass Roots was around the $320 range, but with most being down in the $200-300 range. Not bad.

Anyway, check this place out. It's great for people who live in the city because you're supporting a local business that's right in downtown, and they've been in business for a while; and for out-of-towners it's close to Union Square, BART stops, etc. so you should be able to pop in real quick and get some stuff without having to find parking or go out to a peripheral neighborhood :]

Un-organized and short attention span...

I was a first timer and the staff the layout of all the things were telling me just leave, there are better places, like a drop of a hat!, I was just about to leave, I called earlier, and asked the guy there, He said to me O we have lots of that here. NOT! The prices on the web are $25 bucks less, listed, go check it out on the web site, walk in and look. Disappointing.
