Unfortunately Poor Quality In All Respects
I'll be honest, I want to like Botanacare. I really do. They're close to me geographically, they have stereotypically stoner employees, and they have a really nice store now that the new recreational side is open. But I can't like Botanacare, and here's why:
First, they're charging way too much. Why would anyone buy 1/8th recreationally at $45 before tax? You can drive the 20ish minutes downtown and pay 30% less. The pre-roll prices seem more reasonable, until you see their pre-roll. It's smaller than my pinky finger. Once again, multiple dispensaries sell pre-rolls downtown that are around 1g and are comparably priced. Is the convenience of not driving downtown worth the markup? The answer is no.
Second, they don't take care of their bud. They insist on storing it in plastic bags that breath too easily, and so all their buds end up being excessively dry. Any seasoned smoker knows that overly dry bud burns too quickly and is a harsher smoke than buds with a proper cure.
Third, they insist on using packaging (those plastic bags) that is not compliant with the law for exit. That traps you; either buy a special bag from them to transport it (it costs extra, of course) or you can't actually exit the building with what you just bought. Hidden costs are awful and obnoxious, and not what anyone wants to experience. Plus, next time you shop there what if you leave home without your special bag they sold you? Then you have to buy another one. Bonus points for being really frustrating: they also no longer accept the white bags with zipper seals. That would be less frustrating if I hadn't been given the bag at another dispensary specifically to transport my purchases in compliance with the law.
Finally (and I debated whether to include this), they do not have their customer's welfare at heart. We had friends visit from Texas last month. One of them is not interested in smoking, but wanted to know if a topical would be effective. Shopping at Botanacare, she was discouraged by the size of the bottle. There was so much, she wouldn't be able to use it before leaving the state. The salesperson encouraged her to purchase the topical cream, and (illegally) transport it across state lines and back home. Let that sink in for a minute. That's right, the salesperson was so interested in making a sale that she was willing to advise illegal behavior (in fact, interstate transport is technically a federal crime) in front of 3 other people (myself, my wife, and our friend's husband). That's not someone you want selling you buds; in fact, that's probably the last person you want selling you buds.
In a nutshell, every transaction at Botanacare I've ever had felt like dealing with the shady-looking wookie-foot tourhead selling pot in between cars at a Phish parking lot scene. Don't do that to yourself. Go to a good shop, there are plenty in the Denver area.
Moldy, dusty bud. Smelled terrible, smoked even worse. Will never return to this place. Way too many other people seem to have similar experiences. Never seen a business telling you to bring more money because of taxes either.
I bought 4 Pre-rolls from Botanacare this afternoon and all of them seemed to be nothing but dusty ground leaves!!! $50!! Boooooooo...
Great staff great product
Friendly staff and security. Huge selection. Best shatter and wax at the best price. The only place I go.
My favorite place
High quality shatter and wax at a great price the only place I go
I'm going again
This place has it's goods and bads they only sell 8ths bit 53 bucks any strain that's with tax and they have a large variety. Was very quick.
Went into this rec/med shop after visiting several others I'm the state. The service was pretty good, but the store is cramped and dark - not the most appealing atmosphere I've encountered, but that's not a huge deal. What got me was the prices. They charge $10 for a pre-roll, so I was expecting a king size j with at least a gram. The reality was probably about a 1/2 g in a sloppily rolled and wrinkled pape. And they charge you over $6 for a smell proof container that is mandatory if you want to buy. For $10 in the tourist town of Breckenridge where I expected peak prices, I got a 1 gram pre-roll, and they wouldn't have even thought about charging for the container. Better luck driving 20 minutes and going into Denver - Good Chemistry on Colfax sells $8 1 gram pre-rolls, container included (not to mention $30 rec eighths). Don't waste time and money here.
My first visit was short and sweet and there was nothing about it that was unexpected or unpleasant. Pricing was a tad lower than some other shops and the service was friendly. When I got my lovely buds home I found them to be on a par with weed I've smoked with mmj patients who (supposedly) have access to the finest.
I'll be back!

This place sucks donkey nuts. It's pre-packaged so the quality sucks. They make you buy a bag to take it home in for a min of $6. That's bullshit. No other dispensary has asked me to do that. The employees seem like they don't really give a damn. I'm sticking with Sweet Leaf. Fuck this place.
